Post-grad: the real life version

Hey guys,

I hope you all had a goooood christmas/new years! i know mine was pretty low key (wrote a research paper til midnight on new years eve- fun fun). I was home for a while, but am now back in montreal pretty much trying to rough it. I am applying to graduate school at McGill and everything is due Feb 1st for my department- scary. So I have returned to talk with professors and the school, get all my paperwork together, etc. I am also hoping to find some research work with a professor to stay involved with the department and gain experience in my field of study. So far, no luck, since most profs try to take advantage of work study during the school year.. but in the least I am hoping to do some field work in the arctic over the summer with a prof I know. Everything is really up in the air as to the immediate and near future, which is causing me quite a bit of angst haha. But I guess this is what life after graduation is like? I can't seem to get rid of my apartment so I am kind of roughing it right now, and praying I find some sort of work soon so I don't end up owing my parents for rent! Worse comes to worse, I will prob go back to CP, look for a job and save but it just seems silly to have an apartment here and be working/living somewhere else. So for now I am determined to make this work lol. We will see if this actually lasts...

Not much else to update on. Rob, if you know of anyone looking to hire, LET ME KNOW haha. My roommate and I are both sort of in the same unemployed-applying-for-grad-school boat. At least I am not going through it alone! We are planning on going to free French classes in order to make ourselves more hire-able lol.

Hope you are all doing well, if you feel like visiting me up North I have quite a bit of spare time and would love to see you :-).
